Storytelling -Again

Just like in the Kelly Gang and Wieland the, the importance of storytelling and its power is also found in this book of fish. Throughout my reading I have ran into several examples. The first one comes from the story he told about his mother and how he knows that story because of the orhan -owner people telling him the story along with other stories they used to tell (56). Then he talk about how Capois Death would sit around and tell stories to them all of the time when they are in that prison with the water wheel (p81). Gould says something about the stories being their only escape ( I dont have page numbers right now because my book is not in front of me but I am going to come back and add them! :( ) from the conditions they were living in.

Then the entire set up of this novel is a person re-accounting their life and telling us their story. I think his empasis on the art and powerfulness of story telling that I have mentioned occured in text ties in with the reason why he makes the book so crazy. He may be trying to say that story telling is so magnificent and great, now watch as I craft and mold my own version of storytelling. Perhaps this craziness of structure is to comment on the overall idea of storytelling itself and the power within it. .
