A Stuffy Nose Brings Insight To This Novel that I am Reading So Either Give Me Some Vitamin C or Comment on This
At the beginning of this novel we are placed into an ongoing debate as to whether or not extraordinary events can be proven by nature, or if there is a presence of a higher being. It only takes until chapter two for the author to place us into conflict between logic and god when Clara's father goes missing (page 21). So I ask you, was there a purpose to the mysterious disappearance of the narrators father? I truly believe that the purpose of this even was to throw us, the reader, of to what is actually happening within the novel. Thus far everything within this novel has been explained by natural causes, such as the mystery of ghostly killer stalker. We soon find out that it is none other than Carwin, Clara realizes that the thought of a supernatural figure being present was surely out of the question when she mentally reviews the conversation with the now not so mysterious stalker ( page 106). But still in class, blogpost, and in some internal review we think that there is still a chance that a higher power exists within the world of this novel. This all goes back to the first part of the book, this one part is keeping us hooked in for the entirety of the novel just so we can see if the mysterious followings can be explained by human logic or logic incomprehensible to man. Even with the discovery of our first mysterious voice, I feel as if we all keep a little part of ourselves believing that mysterious voice number two (otherwise known as Clara's protector, see page 103) will prove to be something more mentally invigorating than the discovery of another human source. I have heard talk of people hoping that this voice could be the ghostly presence of Clara's father, but my guess is that voice number two is none other than Playel. The fact he "noted down, in writing" all of the actions of our protagonist suggest that he has in fact been watching over her and protecting her all this time(page 139). To end this great insight of this novel, isnt it weird that there is a lack of spirit talk since Playel left? Think about it.
