-Human fallibility is shown through how the characters believe the voices so easily.
-In the beginning of the novel, the characters were concerned with logic, but as the story progressed, they let everything get to them and they began relying on their senses.
-Brown developed the theme by using the power of deception and suggestion.
-The characters began accepting the voices, building up to Wieland relying on them enough to kill his family. They transition from doubt to certainty about trusting the voices.
-Pg. 85: psychology-Carwin uses the voices to tap into people's personalities, wanting to see how people will react. This is similar to the guy in Saw.
-These ideas are unified through the fact that the human mind is easy to deceive.
-One person cannot know the whole truth about something.
-Carwin performs pranks and doesn't think about the possible consequences.
-Pleyel, the most logic character, had one of the biggest "blow ups" in the novel (aside from Wieland). This proves that no one is safe from the deception of the human mind and senses.
**The human mind is susceptible to deception, thus the reliance on senses to make decisions can be detrimental.
